WEEKLY WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Psalm 34:17 -18 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Amazingly God is never disappointed in us, or surprised about how we feel or what we think. In fact, he draws close to us when we feel broken, are discouraged, or crushed in spirit. It is comforting to know that our Lord feels our pain, and smiles on us, even in our darkest times. With depression, great guilt can come. Guilt about feeling depressed, about fatigue and exhaustion, or not being “good enough.” There is a vast number of reasons we can feel guilty, and experience a sense of shame. But the Lord reassures us that we are his. We belong to him, and he is near…not to rebuke us, but to love us, comfort us, and cleanse us.
Psalm 139:17 “How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.”
His thoughts toward us and about us are precious and wonderful, and they are more frequent and numerous than all the grains of sand on this earth.
